While at O’Hare this morning, a curiously typical financial transaction occurred.
[Nick throws a dollar bill in my lap]
Michael: “What’s this for?”
Nick: “You gave me a dollar for the vending machine last night.”
Michael: “Oh yeah, I forgot.”
[Michael hands the dollar bill to Tim]
Tim: “What’s this for?”
Michael: “I owe you some money for the cab driver’s tip.”
